Fear, Flour & a Farmstand

Fear, Flour & a Farmstand

Aside from the animals, my next favorite adventure to start with homesteading was the food.

I looovveee food. Pretty much all foods, and I’ve already imagined living off our land… but like obviously with Cheetos from the store still, and milk fully pasteurized haha, because yeah—we’re not crazy. But you know, like making all our bread products. Our sweets and baked goods. Even things like potato chips, Cheez-Its, butter, and more. A veggie garden, fruit plants, and soooo much more.

It’s all so intimidating, and if there is anything I know about myself, it’s that I do (and have) let fear hold me back. Fear of failure, fear of other opinions, fear of hard work that never pays off… you know the drill.

I’m pushing past it though, and bitch, this year I’ve got a couple goals in the “from scratch” section: making 60% of our food at home AND kicking off a farm stand on our country road.

It’s all starting with this simple loaf of jalapeño cheddar bread. Not perfected, but so good. A representation of all the things I hope to learn in my from-scratch journey.

Thank god for TikTok and Pinterest—my personal teachers as I grow, and fingers crossed develop a skill I’ve always hoped to find.

Wish me luck, dudes.

Liz
