⭐ The Messy Beginning of Our Shire-Inspired Mini Farm
Share
Unpopular opinion: sometimes the homestead glow-up starts with destruction.
We knew the second we saw this property that we had a lot to work with, so much we want to keep, but also so much potential to build out a mini farm… our perfect homestead… on the Shire-inspired land of our dreams.
If there’s anything I’ve learned since being here, it’s patience. I’ll admit it: I’m an “I want it now, not later” type of person. And while that’s led me through some cool projects, it’s also made me cut corners I shouldn’t have… and left me with results I didn’t actually want.
This land has changed that about me.
Not because I suddenly want perfection, but because this is ours. And I want it to showcase all the love my husband and I put into it. I want it to last. I want it to be passed down. I want it to be something we can leave behind.
Building that is no small feat. And sometimes it starts with tearing things down.
The vision? Glad you asked 😉
Goats. Horses. Cows. Chickens. Bunnies. Ducks. And an honorary donkey. A saltwater pool (made by us). A wildflower garden. Fresh eggs. A greenhouse. A vegetable garden. And a little roadside bakery stand filled with things I’ve made from scratch.
That’s the dream. That’s the vision.
We’re only in the beginning stages and somehow, I’m already overflowing with joy for the journey ahead.
